The Beurer PO 80 pulse oximeter, for practical self-control of your arterial oxygen saturation and heart rate – with 24-hour recording function and PC software for evaluation.
With the PO 80 pulse oximeter from Beurer, you can measure your values reliably, easily and painlessly. Your arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and your heart rate (pulse) are easily displayed on the colour display. Thanks to the built-in recording function of up to 24 hours, you can record your values throughout the day and view and evaluate in detail via the PC software „beurer SpO₂ Assistant“.
Important features of the PO 80 pulse oximeter:

  • Determines arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate (pulse rate).
  • Very easy and pain-free measurement.
  • Continuous recording up to 24 hours.
  • PC software „beurer SpO2 Assistant“ for detailed presentation and evaluation – for operating systems from Windows 8.1
  • Alarm function – limits individually adjustable.
  • Small and lightweight for home and on the go
  • Can be used in high altitude sports (e.g. mountaineering).
  • Easy to read colour display with four display formats and battery level indicator.
  • Adjustable display brightness.
  • Graphic pulse display and switchable pulse tone
  • Medical device.
  • Includes tether, belt bag, storage box, USB cable and USB charger

The oxygen requirements of the body.
The human organism needs approx. 400L Oxygen (O2) (Source: Rosemarie Baumann, Physiology) Oxygen keeps the cells of the body alive and functional. To transport this amount of oxygen, a transport material is required, the haemoglobin. The haemoglobin contained in the red blood cells stores the oxygen. The organs are thus supplied with oxygen via the blood circulation.
How is oxygen saturation determined?
The oxygen saturation can be measured without blood loss. The colour of the blood allows conclusions to the oxygen saturation:

  • Bright red: high oxygen saturation.
  • Dark red: low oxygen saturation.

Oxygen saturation gives information about how much percentage of haemoglobin in arterial blood is loaded with oxygen. It is therefore an important parameter for assessing breathing function. In people with low oxygen saturation levels, there are more symptoms such as shortness of breath, heart rate increases, power drop, nervousness and sweat breakouts.
A pulse oximeter is useful for risk patients such as:

  • People with Heart Disease
  • Chronic obstructive lung disease
  • Asthma bronchial
  • Athletes and healthy people who move at high altitudes (e.g. mountaineers, skiers or sports aviators).

Measuring range.
The pulse oximeter can be used in the measuring range of:

  • SpO2: 70 – 100%, pulse: 30 – 250 beats per minute.

The following measurement accuracy is achieved:

  • SpO2: 70 – 100%, ± 2%, Pulse: 30 – 250 bpm, ± 2 beats per minute.

Important: Do not use the pulse oximeter with plasters, nail polish or other cosmetics. A measurement can only be done when the measuring finger is exposed.

In healthy people, oxygen saturation is in the range of approx. 94% to 99% (source: based on „Windisch W et al. S2k Guideline: Non-invasive and invasive ventilation as a therapy of chronic respiratory insufficiency revision 2017; Pneumology 2017; 71:722795“).
